MARTA Frequently Asked Questions

MARTA is Atlanta's public transportation system. It consists of buses, "subway" style trains, and a streetcar system. Almost every part of the metro Atlanta area is MARTA accessible.

To ride MARTA, you will need a "Breeze Card". You can purchase a Breeze Card at any MARTA station (bus drivers dont carry them. You will have to pay them cash)

The Breeze Card is the MARTA fare card that electronically stores cash value. The plastic card can be reused and reloaded with cash as needed online or in any MARTA station.

Yes! Trains run very frequently every day of the year. Here is the frequency:

Weekday Peak: Every 10 minutes

6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Weekday Midday: Every 12 minutes

9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Weekday Early Evening: Every 12-15 minutes

7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Weekend, Holidays and All Other Times

Every 20 minutes

MARTA fare is $2.50 for a one-way trip, with free transfers automatically added when you use a Breeze Card for payment. The plastic Breeze Card costs $2 and can be purchased at all MARTA rail stations or online. You can also reload /add additional trips, passes and cash value to a Breeze Card at any time at a station vending machine or online.

$2.50 with four free transfers allowed within a 3-hour period (transfers cannot be used for roundtrips)

Children

Children 46 inches and under can ride MARTA for free. Limit two children per paying adult

Senior Citizens, Disabled Riders and Medicare Recipients

Passes provide unlimited rides within a certain time period and may be the cheaper fare option if you plan to ride MARTA multiple times on one day.
